Marcio Philomena is a Brooklyn-based Jazz Guitarist and composer born in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Education
Philomena graduated in Guitar Performance at Berklee College of Music and received an M.M. from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
Performances
Philomena has performed extensively in the United States, including important venues such as ZINC Bar, Berklee Performance Center, Ryles Jazz Club and Regattabar. He has played at major venues in Brazil such as Auditório Araujo Vianna, Café Fon Fon and Teatro Rubi. In Europe, he has performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Portugal.
He has performed alongside vital names such as Nilson Matta, Doug Johnson[1], Mark Walker, Filó Machado, Emilio Valdés, and Kiko Freitas.
Recognition
He was a semifinalist at the Montreaux Jazz Festival Guitar Competition in 2013[2]. In 2017, he was awarded 2nd place at the prestigious Leiden Jazz Award[3] and was featured at the inJazz Conference in Rotterdam, which is known as Europe's second-largest annual jazz conference.
