Marcin Piatkowski is a Polish economist, Lead Economist at the World Bank, and Associate Professor at Kozminski University.[1]

He is the author of the concept of Poland's New Golden Age, which argues that Poland's current level of income and quality of life relative to the West has never been higher in its history.[2] He put foward the concept of "the Warsaw Consensus" which is a new growth model for Poland and Central and Eastern Europe to sustain fast convergence and fully catch up with the West. It is based on ten policy pillars which includes the need to increase domestic saving, promote innovation, and open up to immigration.[3]

He proposed a new version of the institutional theory of economic development, which modifies and extends the Acemoglu Johnson Robinson (ARJ) conceptual framework later updated in Acemoglu-Robinson's book on "Why Nations Fail".[4] While the ARJ model is often criticized for not discussing the conditions for moving from extractive to inclusive institutions, Piatkowski attemps to fill this gap and analyzes the conditions critical for such a transition in his book "Europe's Growth Champion" published by Oxford University Press.[5]

Piatkowski's quotes are featured on the Wikicytaty page under Marcin Piątkowski.
