Mapi Galán (August 13, 1962) is a Spanish film actress, model and yoga instructor,[1][2][3][4] known for The City of Lost Children (1995) (La cité des enfants perdus), Savage Grace (2007)[5][6] and Se ven de (2008)[7] who was director and actress. She is also known as Mapi Galan or Mapy Galan.
Early life
Mapi Galán was born on August 13, 1962, in Ponferrada, Province of León, and she is her parents’ seventh child. From an early age she was involved in the school's theatre plays made several roles, and also organized plays which she usually staged at his parents' house. The fitness workout and dancing were the first classes she took. As her mother was a skillful swimmer, Mapi had learned swimming at the age of three achieved after a number of some medals in provincial swimming games. At the age of 15 she was already making her own jewelry designs and she was selling them at local markets.[8][9]
After she competed Education in Spain, she next attended Escuela de Arte de Oviedo,[10] Oviedo, for four years with a specializing subject in ceramics and painting. Later she went to live in Madrid, where she studied Flight attendant, a qualification she never used, and later two years at an acting school. She then signed with a Modeling agency where she made her first film debut in 1986 starting acting career in film Capullito de alhelí of the director Mariano Ozores. In this period she was also singing in a funky group called Suybalen y Terlenka and lived for a while in London.
Career
Actress
She starred for first time in the spaghetti western film Scalps (1987 film) (1987) of the director Bruno Mattei, and horror film Catacombs (1988 film) (1988) of the director David Schmoeller, from where she discovered that her career is to be an actress. Then in 1987 she lived for six months in Japan working as a model. Later, between 1987 and 1988, she worked for a year in Rome and from there she moved to Paris, where she lived for seven years, until 1995 where she worked in various American and European co-productions, filming in almost all of Europe. Between 1989 and 1995 she worked almost exclusively in television production programmes. In 1996 she starred in British-Spanish comedy sci-fi-horror film Killer Tongue, a film wrote and directed by Alberto Sciamma. Since then she has appeared in films and television mini-series.
Yoga
Her first Yoga, for three years, was with the teacher KhrisnaKant Pattel. After that, she continued her studies in Sivananda yoga at Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Paris, London, Los Angeles and Madrid. In 1995 she studied Pranayama techniques with Ravi Shankar (spiritual leader) in Los Angeles. She has received Mastery of Reiki. In 2005 she received her training certificate in the techniques of Shivananda at the International Hatha Yoga Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. In 2013 she with yoga teacher Rafa Bravo co-founded and opened the yoga retreat DePura Ibiza[11][12][13] in Ibiza.
