Mahwa Kalan is a small village of 284 hectares in Alwar Tehsil in Alwar district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Mahwa Kalan depends on ALWAR, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, One canal and Two springs. Mahwa Kalan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Mahwa Kalan's pin code is 301001[4], and village code is 00858100. The area of Mahwa Kalan is segregated as 132 hectares irrigated area, 130 hectares unirrigated, the 10 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 12 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Alwar to sell earthen pot and make their living.
