Mahnoor Cheema (born c.2007) is a Pakistani–British student. At age 16, she passed 34 General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) subjects. In 2025, she completed 24 A-level subjects and an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).[1][2][3] [4][5][6][7][8][9]

Early life and education

Cheema was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and moved with her family to the United Kingdom in 2006.[4][3] The move followed her parents' enrollment in postgraduate programs at Lincoln’s Inn and SOAS University of London. She attended Langley Grammar School in West London and later the Henrietta Barnett School in London, before completing her final year of study at home.[3][5][7][10][11]

Examinations

GCSEs

In 2023, Mahnoor passed **34 GCSE subjects**, with strong performances across disciplines including astronomy, further mathematics, Latin, and French.[2] Reporting described this as a record for the UK and EU.[2][6]

A-levels

In August 2025, she completed **24 A-Level subjects** along with an EPQ. Media attributed the following records based on exam board breakdowns:

  • Most individual A-Level subjects passed with distinction** (24 + EPQ) through one exam board without repeating components,[3][5][6][9][12]
  • 19 A–A grades** at A-level,[3][6]
  • Combined, **45** A* grades across GCSE and A-level (11 from A-Levels + 34 from GCSEs),[3][13]
  • A total of **58** subjects passed with distinction (34 GCSEs + 24 A-Levels).[3][4][6]

Media also reported she had received an offer to study medicine at the **University of Oxford (Exeter College)**, beginning October 2025.[1][4][5][6][12]

Personal life and skills

Cheema speaks English, Urdu, Punjabi, and reasonable French and German. She also holds an **AMusTCL diploma** in music, equivalent to an undergraduate qualification, achieved at age 16; she earned gold medals in Acting and Public Speaking from LAMDA; and she completed her EPQ with a perfect score in just ten days.[14] She is also a **member of Mensa**, the high IQ society.[10][15][16][7]

Recognition

Following her GCSE achievements, she met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in London, where she was congratulated and the Sharif brothers praised her as a source of national pride.[2][15]
