Mahender Singh Tawar is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer currently serving as the District Magistrate & Collector of SANT KABIR NAGAR.[1]
Early life and education
Mahender Singh Tawar was born to parents Om Parkash Singh Tawar and Gindodi Devi, coming from a modest background. His father, a retired serviceman from the Indian Army, and his family have a background in agricultural activities. He received his primary and secondary education at Government Primary School Kahnaur in Rohtak District, Haryana.[2] Subsequently, he attended Bal Bhawan Public School Bhiwani from class IX to class XII. In 2009, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Fashion and apparel Engineering from TIT&S College Bhiwani after a four-year program.[3]
Career
In 2015, he was selected as IAS officer[4]
Post Held
Throughout his career, Tawar has held significant positions in various districts of Uttar Pradesh:
• Assistant Magistrate/Assistant Collector, Bahraich: He served in Bahraich from May 4, 2016, to September 29, 2017, gaining valuable experience in district administration.
• Joint Magistrate, Etah: From September 30, 2017, to February 12, 2019, he held the position of Joint Magistrate in Etah[5], further enhancing his administrative capabilities.
• Chief Development Officer, Shahjahanpur: Tawar assumed the role of Chief Development Officer in Shahjahanpur [5] from February 12, 2019, to August 15, 2020, contributing to the district's rural development.
• Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad: Serving as the Municipal Commissioner of Ghaziabad[4] from August 15, 2020, to September 18, 2022, Tawar oversaw urban development and municipal affairs.
• Vice Chairman, Gorakhpur Development Authority: On September 18, 2022, Tawar was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Gorakhpur Development Authority,[6] where he explored new dimensions of urban development.
• District Magistrate & Collector, Sant Kabir Nagar: Currently, Mahender Singh Tawar holds the position of District Magistrate and Collector in Sant Kabir Nagar [7] overseeing district administration comprehensively.
Personal life
In 2016, Mahender Singh Tawar married Priyanka Dutt, and together they have a daughter named Eva Tawar.
