Maem is a small village of 2104 hectares in Bicholim Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Maem depends on BICHOLIM, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and One spring. Maem is also near by One lake. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Maem's pin code is 403504[5], and village code is 00009700. The area of Maem is segregated as 94.39 hectares irrigated area, 1086.82 hectares unirrigated, the 167.2 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 755.25 hectare area not available for cultivation.
Maem has One post office (Mayem B.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Maem has One bank and One credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with One recreational center.

Maem is a census village in the district of North Goa, Goa. The village has a total population of 7544 and has total administration over 1728 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

Employment
According to a census 2011 report, 2878 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 2095 male, 783 female with 2358 (81.93%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1777 males and 581 females. 161 males and 109 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 56 male and 34 female agricultural labor. 520 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of BICHOLIM and North Goa to sell country liquor and make their living.
