Maciej Walczak is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder[1] known for his research in chemistry and chemical biology of saccharides, peptides, and proteins. Walczak began his independent career in 2013 at the University of Colorado as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor (and granted tenure) in 2020. His notable contributions include development of the glycosyl cross coupling reactions,[2] studies on stapled (constrained) saccharides,[3] discovery of the metallo-anomeric effect,[4] and the first chemical synthesis of microtubule-associate protein tau.[5] Walczak's recent studies focus on deciphering molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies using chemical, biophysical and other disease-modeling methods.[6]
