Mabroc Teas is a producer and exporter of Ceylon tea, being the marketing arm of the plantation sector of Hayleys.[1][2], one of the largest conglomerates in Sri Lanka, producing 3.61% of the country's tea[3]. Mabroc Teas ships tea and spices to over 50 countries[4]. They produce black tea, green tea, herbal tea infusions, Ayurvedic tea, tea gifts, bulk tea supply and Ceylon tea blends[1]. Mabroc Teas has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact[5] since 2006

History

Mabroc Teas was established in 1988 by a group of tea enthusiasts, including current Managing Director Niran R. Ranatunga, with the objective of producing authentic Ceylon teas.[6]

In March 2007, Mabroc became the first Sri Lankan company to introduce “ethical” Ceylon teas, jointly branded with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the initiative's 10 principles to promote responsible corporate citizenship[7].

Mabroc Teas was acquired by diversified conglomerate Hayleys PLC in 2010[8]

Plantations

Mabroc Teas are produced in gardens belonging to Hayleys Plantations (namely, Kelani Valley Plantations, Talawakelle Tea Estates and Horana Plantations).[9]
