Martin Polle (born 28 April 1970), known professionally as MP Grey, is a German songwriter and music producer., He is recognized for his melodic, genre-blending songs that incorporate elements of indie pop, adult contemporary, synth-driven textures, and folk. Polle’s work often explores themes of human connection and emotional resilience, brought to life through an ongoing collaboration with Los Angeles-based vocalist Rudiger. His debut album Merged Time was released in 2020 under Blossöm Records.[1][2]

Early Life and Education

Polle was born in Prenzlau, a town in north-eastern Germany. He began classical piano training in 1980 and continued through his teenage years. In the late 1980s, he performed as a keyboardist for the GDR rock band Knautschzone. Despite pursuing music from a young age, Polle also developed a parallel career in finance. He completed professional training as a Bankkaufmann (IHK) in 1992, earned a Diplom Betriebswirt (FH) in 1997, an M.A. in Finance & Banking in 2008, and a Doctorate in Economics (Dr. rer. oec.) in 2018.

Music Career

Polle began writing and producing original music in 1989. Adopting the stage name MP Grey, his music is known for its introspective lyrics and cinematic arrangements. He composes, arranges, and produces his tracks in a personal studio based in Germany.[3][4][5]

In 2020, MP Grey released his debut album Merged Time, a collection of songs written across three decades. Since then, he has issued a series of singles that have received attention from independent music blogs and niche radio stations internationally. He has also collaborated with producers Simon Jacobsson (Stockholm) and Dibs (Los Angeles).[6]

Notable releases include:

  • Life Flows[7]
  • Christmas Time (feat. Rudiger)[8]
  • Grab It[9]
  • Run (feat. Rudiger)
  • I’m There 4U
  • Hello (VIP Mix)
  • Let The Music Play (with FR3SH TrX and Rayman Rave)[10]

Style and Influences

MP Grey's sound combines elements of indie rock, alt-pop, synthpop, and acoustic influences. Reviewers have noted his songs for being “thoughtful, melodic, and quietly powerful,” with a balance between emotional depth and accessibility. Thematically, his lyrics frequently explore everyday moments, emotional growth, and social bonds.[13][14]
