Tazimul Islam Shameem (popularly known as Shameem; born 28 February 1978)<ref name=bio>{{ is a Bangladeshi politician and general secretary Rangpur-6.

Early life

Shameem was born on 28 February 1978 in Pirganj, Bangladesh. He came from a Bengali Muslim family of Miahs from the village of Fotepur in PRangpur, Rangpur District. His parents, Abdul khalek and Johora Khalek, were cousins of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. His father was a politician and came from a Miah family whilst his mother, Johora Khalek, was a housewife.

Career

Shameem has been elected as a meyor of municipal from Rangpur-6 constituency. He beat independent candidate Shaydur Rahman. He defeated an independent rebel candidate He was elected mayor of Pirganj municipality for the first time in 2013 from Awami League. He is serving as the current mayor for the 3rd consecutive term., In 2023, Shameem was elected North Bengal President of Municipal Association of Bangladesh (MAB). MAB.

Personal life

Shamim is the 3rd of 4 brothers. From a young age, he was inspired by politics from the close proximity of uncle Wazed Mia and aunt Sheikh Hasina, and got involved in politics. In 2013, he married Saj. Currently he is living in Sheikh Hasina's house Joy Sadan.
