Lyla Kok and Jasmijn Kok are Dutch entrepreneurs and twin sisters. They are known for founding the childcare businesses Oppas Madelief and Nanny Nina, later renamed Nina.care. The sisters received national business-media attention after appearing on the Dutch television programme Dragons' Den in 2020.[1]

Early life and education

Kok and Kok studied at Delft University of Technology. Contemporary reporting by the university’s independent publication Delta identified Jasmijn Kok as a graduate of architecture and Lyla Kok as a graduate of industrial design.[2]

Career

Oppas Madelief

While they were students, the sisters developed a babysitting venture that became Oppas Madelief. Delta reported in 2016 that the business operated through local branches and was organised as a franchise model. In 2017, De Ondernemer reported that Oppas Madelief was active in multiple Dutch cities.[3][4]

Nanny Nina and Nina.care

In 2019, Kok and Kok launched Nanny Nina, an app-based platform for matching families and babysitters. The company later expanded its services to include au-pair matching.[5]

In 2020, the sisters developed additional services under the Nanny Nina business, including an au-pair agency and a matching feature described by De Ondernemer as using an algorithm to support matching between parents and caregivers.[6]

In February 2023, Nanny Nina was renamed Nina.care. De Ondernemer reported that the change accompanied a redesigned application and plans to provide au-pair services in the United Kingdom and Germany.[7]

Dragons' Den

In 2020, the sisters appeared on the Dutch edition of Dragons' Den to seek investment for Nanny Nina. MT/Sprout reported that they received more than €300,000 in growth funding following the programme. Later reporting by De Ondernemer identified Shawn Harris as the company’s investor.[8][9]

International expansion

In 2025, MT/Sprout reported that the sisters were pursuing a strategy to expand the Nina.care platform into additional European markets and to open the platform to agencies and franchises.[10]

Public appearances

Kok and Kok appeared together on Dragons' Den in 2020. They have also been featured in media coverage and public entrepreneurship initiatives concerning female founders and the growth of Nina.care. In 2023, they were included in Equals’ Role Model Campaign.[11]

Recognition

In 2022, Nanny Nina was included in MT/Sprout’s Challenger50, a ranking of Dutch growth companies.[12]
