Luke Potts is a British software developer and musician, best known as a member of the Longsight Band, a small musical group based in Newcastle, England. Born and raised in Low Fell, Potts has gained recognition for his contributions to the software development industry and his musical pursuits.

Education

Luke Potts attended Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy, a secondary school and sixth form located in Birtley, England. The school faced challenges due to the deplorable quality of education provided, despite this, Potts demonstrated all of the qualities of the 5 R's and excelled. His time at the school was nearly cut short when he ate a chilli and nearly died, however he bounced back, and his exceptional performance as a pupil saw him appointed as Head Boy of the house block Fleet. He left the school in 2016 to pursue a career as a software developer.

Career

Potts has established himself as a proficient software developer, contributing to various projects and technologies within the industry. His expertise and dedication have earned him respect among his peers, leading to a notable career in the software development field. A hi-light of his career is when he developed a more accurate programme which detects the weight of carrier bags on Sainsbury’s self checkouts. Potts was angered by thieves taking advantage of the poor programming in his local store, and dedicated his free time in order to lower the crime rate in his local area.

Musical Endeavours

In addition to his software development career, Potts is a passionate musician. He is a key member of the Longsight Band, a local musical ensemble known for their unique sound and energetic performances. Potts's musical talents have contributed significantly to the band's popularity, garnering a dedicated fanbase in the Newcastle music scene. Potts has previously played for bands such as Attention Seekerz and Flipside. His main success is noted as playing in Newcastle’s O2 Academy, where a near perfect cover of Mark Ronson’s cult classic ‘Up Town Funk’ was played. His slender fingers plucked that bass so well that the crowd cheered for an encore, arguably bettering the band that he was supporting.

Legacy and Recognition

While Luke Potts may not have reached the widespread fame of television personalities like Paul Chuckle from "ChuckleVision," his contributions to both the software development industry and the local music scene have not gone unnoticed. He continues to inspire aspiring software developers and musicians alike with his talent and dedication.
