Louise Jones (née Chen, born in 1988), previously professionally as Ouizi,[1] is a Chinese-American mural artist who is known for her large floral murals located in urban, public spaces (museums and public parks) throughout the United States.[2]

Early life and education

Jones was born in Santa Monica, California and was raised in Los Angeles by her Shanghainese parents.[3][4] She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she studied drawing and printmaking.[1][5][6]

Work and career

Jones began working on murals in 2014.[5]

Her murals often depict plants and animals native to the sites where they are located, and highly informed by her education in drawing and printmaking.[4][7] She has also painted murals inspired by Chinese-American and Chinese culture.[6]

She has installed murals in Arkansas,[8] California, Indiana,[5] Michigan,[6] New York, and Ohio,[9][10] and also abroad in New Zealand and Shanghai.[1] She has painted more than 40 murals in Detroit alone.[6]

In 2018 Jones was named the artist-in-residence for the 2018 Movement Electronic Music Festival, a Detroit festival.[11]

Personal life

She has lived and worked in Detroit since 2014.[12][13]
