Elizabeth Lily Barber (born 4th October 1986) is an award-wining and best-selling English author. Her first novel, My Name is Anna, won the Daily Mail / Penguin Random House First Novel Prize[1] and was published in January 2019. Her second novel, Out of Her Depth, was published in April 2022 and was a Richard & Judy Book Club pick[2]. TV rights for Out of Her Depth have been optioned by Sony[3], and in July 2022 it was announced that Matilda Curtis, daughter of filmmaker Simon Curtis, was attached to adapt.[4] Barber's 3rd novel, Nanny Wanted, will be published in August 2023.
Barber grew up in Highgate, North London, and attended North London Collegiate School. She graduated from Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge, in 2009 with a degree in English. She is the younger sister of Jamie Barber, an entrepreneur and restaurateur with whom she works at The Hush Collection, a London-based restaurant group.[5]
