Lior Chorev (born January 10, 1972) is an Israeli public relations advisor and an international strategy consultant. CEO of Chorev Investments and Chairman of Percepto International.
Previously served as CEO of Arad Communications and CEO of the Euro Israel Communications Group. Serves as Chairman of the Goldfinger Group, as a mentor in the Collective Impact project, and as an activist in the Olim Together Association.
Early life and education
Chorev was born in Jerusalem as Lior Harnovitsky to his father Prof. Michael and his mother Miri Chorev.
He studied at a high school near the university of Jerusalem. He was a trainee of the youth movement "The Immigrant Camps".
Between 1990 and 1993 he served in the Israel Defense Forces, from which he was released with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He later began studying law at the Hebrew University, which he did not finish.
Strategic consulting
Between 2011 and 2013 Chorev served as Chief Strategy Officer at "Azura Consulting LTD" international mining and natural reserves consulting company. Chorev was a co-founder of the "Euro RSCG Israel" group. He served there as a chief consultant for commercial companies, and as an international consultant for crisis management and election campaigns. He held managerial positions in strategic consulting companies, including at Euro Israel and Arad Communications. He was involved in more than 100 local campaigns in Israel. He was a senior strategist in Ariel Sharon's prime ministerial campaigns, which he won in 2001 and 2003, and held a similar position in the 2006 elections, where he advised candidate Ehud Olmert, who was eventually elected prime minister.
He made his international career as a strategy consultant for candidates in electoral campaigns in Central and West Africa, Europe, and South America.
At the end of the 1990s, he was active in the fight against the closing of the Bar-Ilan road, claiming that the decision was illegal since it was made without consulting the residents of the secular neighborhoods and the head of the local authority, and that the decisions were guided by the political considerations of the Minister of Transportation Yitzhak Levy.
In 2010, the names of Chorev and Eyal Arad were associated with the Harpaz document case, after the logo of Arad's office appeared above the document in question. The two denied their involvement in the affair and filed a complaint with the police. The background to his connection to these events is apparently his deep acquaintance with the candidate for Chief of Staff at the time, Yoav Galant, as part of Ariel Sharon's farm forum.
In 2012, Chorev announced that he was moving to the field of business, the details of which he would negotiate with Dan Gertler and would also be responsible for the business development of his businesses.[1][2]
In the 2015 elections, Chorev worked as a strategic consultant in the campaign of the Kulanu party led by Moshe Kahlon.[3]
In February 2016, when he began his service as a strategic advisor to the Commissioner of Police through an engagement with Goldfinger Communications, there was a lot of criticism from various parties regarding the nature of his activities as a police advisor.
In October 2017, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized his involvement with the police following his suspicions that he was the cause of the leaks. Targeted regarding his investigations in cases 1000 and 2000 in the framework of Netanyahu's trial, on the part of the police, and claimed that his very employment is problematic when his service was extended without a tender.[4]
On November 19, 2017, Chorev announced that he was removing himself from the list of consultants on behalf of the company "Goldfinger Communications", which provides services for the police.[5]
Teaching
Chorev teaches at the School of Government at the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center (IDC)[6] and is a strategic advisor to the Herzliya Conference at the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center.
