Lily Newmark (born 24 May 1994) is a British-American actress and former model. She is best known for playing Iona in the film Pin Cushion (film) (2017), Ruthie in the Netflix series Sex Education (TV series) (2019-2020), Pym in the Netflix series Cursed (2020 TV series) (2020) and Eve Milton in the Sky One series Temple (TV series) (2019-present).
Early life
Newmark was born and raised in London. She is the daughter of Conservative politician Brooks Newmark and artist Lucy Keegan.[1] Her maternal aunt is actress Rose Keegan.[2] She attended the private Francis Holland School in Sloane Square before studying at East 15 Acting School where she graduated with a BA in Acting and Contemporary Theatre in 2016.[3][4]
Career
Newmark began her career by appearing in amateur independent films; and in music videos for artists including Disciples (production team)[5], Rejjie Snow[6] and Real Lies[7]. She was scouted by First Model Management and proceeded to work professionally as a fashion model for several years.[8][9][10] As a model her work included campaigns for Zandra Rhodes[11] and Chanel[12]; and editorials for Vice (magazine)[13][14] and Wonderland (magazine)[15]
In her final year at drama school she was cast in a small recurring role in the NBC television series Emerald City (TV series) [16]. She was then cast in the leading role of Iona in the British independent film Pin Cushion (film), for which she was nominated for Most Promising Newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards.[17] She went on to play supporting roles in various film and television productions including Juliet, Naked (2018), Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), Les Misérables (British TV series)(2019), Born a King (2019), Balance, Not Symmetry (2019), Sex Education (TV series) (2019-2020), Cursed (2020 TV series) (2020), Misbehaviour (film) (2020), and Temple (TV series) (2019-present).[18]
