Leppsoft is a software development company founded by Arthur Lepp in 2015. The company is known for its flagship software product, Soundpad. Leppsoft is based in Cologne, Germany.

History

The idea of playing sounds over the internet has been a long-standing concept, with early explorations dating back to 2002. Initial attempts were based on the "What you hear" feature of Windows XP. However, these approaches were not suitable for voice applications, as they resulted in others hearing themselves in an increasingly noisy echo loop.

In 2012, a breakthrough occurred when Arthur Lepp discovered an audio tunnel driver. He developed a Java user interface using this driver, which met his needs for some time. However, this solution was cumbersome to install and configure and lacked performance, making it unsuitable for a wider audience.

In response, in 2014, Arthur Lepp initiated the development of a driver in C++. The objective was to create an easy-to-install, fast, and user-friendly solution. This endeavor led to the creation of Soundpad. Unlike other methods of playing sounds on the microphone, Soundpad simplifies the process. It gets installed on the default recording device, typically the microphone, without the need for additional devices or intricate configurations.
