Lee Zi Yi Michelle (born February 4, 1989) is a multiple award-winning Financial Advisor, Financial Wellness Advocate, Podcaster, and Finance Influencer with more than 20,000 followers on Instagram. She is the founder of Legacy Edge, a financial solutions agency known for offering a vast range of services to help clients achieve financial freedom. Michelle specializes in investment and estate planning.[1]
Michelle has over a decade's experience in the Financial Services industry and is known for curating instructional content to educate her followers on financial literacy and achieving economic and social equality for women. In addition, she is an avid advocate for women's financial literacy and has participated in numerous initiatives to support it by offering her services and hosting webinars. Michelle has collaborated with several prolific firms and organizations throughout her career, including Gemini, HODL, and United Women Singapore.
Michelle is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Singapore Young Entrepreneur award and Court of the table 2022. She is also a highly acclaimed public speaker who has gained a vast following through her social media channels and webinars. She is often seen at various non-profit events and is actively engaged in the betterment of society. Her first self-designed and hosted a webinar - How to Get Started Investing to raise the Singapore Children Society funds.[2]
Early life and education
On February 4, 1989, Michelle was born in Singapore in a family of small business owners. She hails from a Teochew ancestry. Michelle completed her primary education at De La Salle School and college education at Jurong Junior College.
In 2016, Michelle enrolled in RMIT University, where she pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing. During her time at the University, Michelle worked multiple part-time jobs in the IT-retail industry.
In 2020 she acquired an Associate Financial Planner (AFP®) certification and is currently pursuing her Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification.
Career
Michelle started her career in 2010 when she was still pursuing her college education. She initially joined the Prudential Assurance Company Singapore as a Financial Consultant and was promoted to the Associate Financial Services Manager position within five years. Michelle worked for over seven years with this firm. In 2017, Michelle became a Financial Services Manager for Aviva Financial Advisers, where she served for over a year. Currently, she holds a position as an Associate Director of Sales under Manulife Financial Advisers.[3]
In 2018, Michelle founded Legacy Edge, a financial solutions agency known for offering a vast range of services to help clients achieve financial freedom and assist them with estate planning. Within three years of its inception, Michelle has received the Singapore Young Entrepreneur award for her steady fast growth and contribution to society. In 2019, Michelle became the Associate Director of sales at Manulife Financial Advisers, where she is currently working alongside her venture.
In 2020, Michelle received the Court of the Table (COT) award, representing the top 3% financial advisors worldwide. She teamed up with United Women Singapore for their Empowered Women Series on Wealth Building in the same year. In addition, she organized financial literacy webinars raising funds to support UWS's flagship Girls2Pioneers STEM program and local anti-violence initiatives.
Michelle is a firm believer in the importance of investing in women's financial literacy to achieve economic and social equality. Michelle regularly hosts webinars for her followers which she donated the webinars proceeds to charitable causes. She is also a regular volunteer at Meals on Wheels.
