Lee Chae-yeon (Korean language: 이채연; born January 11, 2000), better known as the mononym Chaeyeon is a South Korean singer, dancer and songwriter. She finished 12th in Mnet's girl group survival show Produce 48 and debuted with Iz*One in 2018.[1]
Early life
Lee was born on January 11, 2000. Her younger sister Chae-ryeong is part of the girl group Itzy and she also has a second younger sister, Chaemin. She attended Seocheon High School and graduated in February 2020.
Career
2013–2015: Kpop Star 3 and Sixteen
In 2013, Lee and her younger sister Chaeryeong auditioned for Fantagio but failed to become trainees.
Lee appeared for the first time on TV with her sister during the 3rd season of K-pop Star.
In 2015, she participated in Mnet (TV channel) reality survival show Sixteen (TV series) which eventually determined the members of girl group Twice.
2018–present: Produce 48 and official debut with Iz*One
From June 15 to August 31, 2018, Lee represented WM Entertainment on reality girl group survival show Produce 48. She eventually placed 12th and debuted with Iz*One. The group's debut extended play (EP) Color*Iz was released on October 29, 2018, with "La Vie en Rose (Iz*One song)" serving as its lead single.[2][3][4]
