Lawrence Kumpf is an American performing arts curator, writer, and publisher. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Blank Forms, a not-for-profit platform for the presentation and preservation of experimental and time-based performance practices located in New York City.[1] He previously served as the Curator and Artistic Director of ISSUE Project Room from 2008 to 2016[2].[3]

Career

Kumpf has curated and co-curated exhibitions including Open Plan: Cecil Taylor at the Whitney Museum, New York, Don and Moki Cherry: Organic Music Societies at Blank Forms, New York and ARGOS Center for Audiovisual Arts, Brussels, and two exhibitions devoted to the work of pioneering composer Catherine Christer Hennix at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and Empty Gallery, Hong Kong.[4][5][6][7] He has organized collaborative performance projects with historically significant and emerging artists from around the world at institutions including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, ARGOS Center for Audio Visual Arts in Brussels, Bourse de Commerce Pinault Collection in Paris, the Munch Museum in Oslo, and MoMA PS1 and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.[8][5][9][10][11][12]
