Lawan is a small village of 6556 hectares in Pokaran Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Lawan depends on POKARAN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 10.03% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Lawan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Lawan's pin code is 345021[4], and village code is 02052500. The area of Lawan is segregated as 10.03 hectares irrigated area, 1582.99 hectares unirrigated, the 3353.3 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 1609.32 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Lawan has One post office (Pokaran S.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Lawan has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Lawan is a census village in the district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3456 and has total administration over 549 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of POKARAN and Jaisalmer to sell ghee and make their living.
