Laurence Hemary (Born 25 September 2002) is an Iraqi rugby union player who plays for Cobham RFC and the Iraq national team.
Early life
Hemary began his rugby career at Bracknell RFC, where he developed through the youth ranks. He later attended London South Bank University, continuing both his academic and athletic pursuits. During his university years, Hemary played for the university rugby team, gaining recognition for his skills and athleticism.
Career
While studying at university, Hemary also played for Cobham RFC, competing in domestic competitions and further honing his abilities in the sport.
International Career
In early 2025, Hemary received his first call-up to the Iraq national rugby team in preparation for the Arab Rugby Sevens Mens Championship held in Egypt. He made his international debut during the tournament and quickly became a significant contributor to the squad.
On Saturday, 15 February 2025, Hemary was part of the Iraqi team that achieved its first ever international win, defeating Saudi Arabia by a score of 7–5. The victory marked a milestone in Iraqi rugby history and underscored Hemary's emerging role as an international athlete.
