Laura Britt is an American broadcaster, host, and anchor employed by NBC Sports Bay Area in San Francisco, California.[1] Her primary role is hosting the San Francisco Giants Pre and Post Game Live shows. She has also hosted Pre and Post Game shows for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Athletics, Sacramento Kings, and San Jose Sharks. Previously, Laura helped launch 120 Sports (currently Stadium)[2] in Chicago, Illinois, as one of the original talent hires.[3] Prior to 120 Sports, Laura co-anchored a morning show, covered local sports, and occasionally anchored the nightly news at Fox 40 WDBD in Jackson, Mississippi.[3]

Background

Britt is a native of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, a nearby suburb of Birmingham.[3] She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham receiving her B.A. in Communication Studies with a concentration in Mass Communication-Broadcasting and earned a double minor in Communication Management and Spanish.[3] While at UAB, Britt was a member of the UAB Cheerleading team.[citation needed] During her Senior year of college, she was awarded the Broadcast Journalist Student of the Year by her teachers.[citation needed]

Broadcasting Career

While enrolled at UAB, Britt interned at Fox News in New York City and at ABC 33/40 in Birmingham. After college, Britt was hired by Fox 40 WDBD in Jackson, Mississippi, as her first full-time broadcast position.[3]

After showing interest in other areas of broadcast, she co-anchored the station’s morning show called Fox 40 & Friends from 2011 to 2013.[citation needed]

In 2014, Britt moved to Chicago, IL, to work for 120 Sports and help launch a new digital sports network focused on covering college and professional sports in 2-minute segments. Britt hosted live programming in 2-hour blocks with many sports commentators, broadcasters, and former athletes. While at 120 Sports, she also co-hosted a morning show with Laurence Holmes and Michael Kim.[4]

In April 2018, Britt left Stadium to join NBC Sports Bay Area. David Koppett, former VP of Content Strategy for NBC Sports Bay Area, had this to say about her hiring, “She has established herself as one of the most versatile sportscasters in the business today, and her extensive experience and commentary will further enhance the network’s expansion into the digital space.”[1]

Britt established her versatility in the Bay Area sports scene with her ability to host live television shows that cover multiple sports including baseball, football, basketball, and hockey.[citation needed] In addition to her television hosting role, Britt regularly joins radio programming to discuss Bay Area sports teams on 95.7 The Game and 104.5 KNBR.[5]From 2020 to 2022, Britt co-hosted the 49ers Talk Podcast with Matt Maiocco.[6]

Achievements

In 2022, Britt won an Emmy Award for her work as Talent – Anchor/Reporter – Sports in the Northern California Area. [7][8]
