Lars Melander (born 1939) is a Swedish visual artist whose work includes painting, drawing and graphic art. A book-length monograph on his life and work, Den rastlösa penseln: Lars Melanders liv, design och konst, by art historian Gösta Arvidsson, was published in 2004.[1]
Melander is represented in the collections of the Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet.
Early life and education
Melander was born in Stockholm in 1939. He studied at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.
Career
Arvidsson’s 2004 monograph discusses Melander’s activities in fine art and applied graphic design from the 1960s onward.
According to Galleri Pictor, Melander has also worked in design and illustration and has exhibited in Sweden and internationally.
Work
Arvidsson describes Melander’s painting in terms of energetic, rhythmical brushwork and an interest in the relationship between image, typography and layout.
