Lanka Bandaranayke is a film director, film producer, actor and theatre artist from Sri Lanka.

Early life

Lanka was born in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.

Career

Lanka started her career as a theatre artist in 1998 before making her breakthrough in filmmaking in 2016. She has been working as an actress and costume designer in theater, tele-dramas and films.

She is known for her award-winning short films Tradition(2016), Inheritance (2020), Mahasona (2021)

The short film, Inheritance (2020) made with the partnership of the British Council of Sri Lanka in the Female Filmmakers First program,[1] and the film was produced by Agenda 14. She was a jury member for fiction at the Sound & Image Challenge International Festival in 2018 and 2019 in Macau, and she also, sheed as a curator at the same festival in 2019. Her short film, Mahasona (2021) was officially selected for various film festivals, including Tasveer South Asian Film Festival 2021 in Washington, D.C., USA
