Lala Behari Sukla (born 28 December 1949) is an Indian Scientist and Professor. He has been working in the fields of bio-mineral processing, hydrometallurgy and bioprocessing. He is working as Director of the Biofuels and Bioprocessing Research Centre (BBRC) at Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA), Bhubaneswar.[2][3]
Early life and education
L. B. Sukla was born on 28 December 1949 in Krushnanagar, Jajpur district, Odisha, India. He completed his school education at Ispat Vidyalaya, Rourkela in 1966; B.Sc. (Engineering) in Metallurgy in 1971 and M.Tech in Metallurgy in 1973 from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela.[4]
Career
L. B. Sukla joined the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology[1] (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar in the year 1975[5]. He worked as a scientist in the same[1] institute and retired as Chief Scientist in the year 2011.[4][3][6]
After retirement, he worked as CSIR Emeritus Scientist[7] and Emeritus Professor at the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR).[4]
He joined Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA) University[8] as Director of the Biofuels & Bioprocessing Research Centre (BBRC).[2][3]
Research
L. B. Sukla research has interests in biomineral processing, biotechnological extraction of metals (such as bioleaching), algal biotechnology and hydrometallurgy.[4]
L. B. Sukla have published 4 books and 11 patents.[9][10][8][5]

He received a Global Teaching Excellence Award in 2021.[12]
