Laibi Oinam was the first woman auto driver in Manipur, India.

In 2015, filmmaker Meena Longjam made a documentary about her called "Auto Driver".[1][2] In India, driving is considered a non-traditional profession for women.[3]

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic in India, she drove a 22-year-old nurse who was suffering from COVID-19 140 kilometres (87 mi) from the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal to her home in Kamjong at night, after the hospital's authorities and other taxi drivers refused to do so. The trip took 8 hours to complete. Oinam was given a cash reward of 110,000 rupees by the chief minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, in honour of her actions.[1][2][3][4]

She is the mother of two sons.[2]
