Lai is a small village of 1992 hectares in Merta Tehsil in Nagaur district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Lai depends on Merta City, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Lai is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tanker. Lai's pin code is 341511[4], and village code is 01830600. The area of Lai is segregated as 165 hectares irrigated area, 1411 hectares unirrigated, the 41.97 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 374 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Merta City and Nagaur to sell earthen pots and make their living.
