LaMetric
LaMetric (Smart Atoms Ltd.) is a smart home company that produces clocks and lighting, different by design and versatility.
Founded in 2013 by three engineers, the company launched its flagship product, LaMetric TIME smart clock, via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in June, 2014.[1] They also invented LaMetric SKY, the smart lighting product that can work as a smart display, and had run a pre-order campaign for it in July 2019.[2]

History
LaMetric(Smart Atoms Ltd.) was founded in May 2013 by Nazar Bilous(CEO), Dmytro Baryskyy(VP Software) and Igor Kishchak(VP Hardware)[3]
Working on previous products, co-founders were hostages of digital and social metrics from various online services (Google Analytics, App Figures, Facebook etc.). They needed to constantly monitor them and quickly make responsible decisions based on these data. Every team member was interested in numbers as well, however, it was impossible to observe the data together with the whole team. They came up with the idea to transform the old-fashioned clock into the smart clock that besides time can display important information that would be visible to everyone at the same time, and concisely displayed in the form of specific numbers, changes in metrics, trends, notifications - and nothing more.
After a year of prototyping, in June 2014, LaMetric launched its first product on Kickstarter[4] and named him LaMetric TIME. The crowdfunding campaign received $370,001 from 2215 backers across the World, with an initial goal of $69,000.
Two months later, LaMetric started cooperation with Foxconn, the world-famous manufacturer of Apple devices, electronics and computer components. The first batch of LaMetric TIME was delivered to thousands of backers from all over the world in October 2015.
In May 2016, the company started international sales and in September this year, LaMetric TIME became a part of the Amazon Launchpad in the USA, UK, Germany, France and Canada[5]. In October 2017 the product crossed the mark of the sale in 20 countries by entering Australian and Japanese markets.
During 2016 and 2017, LaMetric integrated TIME with IFTTT[6] and a range of smart home devices, which allow users to monitor indoor climate measurements from Netatmo Weather Station; get a song name, which is currently playing on Sonos speaker; switch on/off Philips Hue lights and home appliances connected via WeMo switch; voice control TIME via Amazon Echo and Google Assistant.
In October 2018, LaMetric started a partnership with Home Connect[7] from BSH Group and integrated TIME with a line of connected home appliances from Bosch, Siemens, Neff, Gaggenau and Thermador. The company developed “Home Connect Monitor” and “Home Connect Control” apps, which help monitor the events and receive notifications about program status launched on the home appliance; set the program options and control smart home appliances with the ability to start/stop a program, and turn on/off the device, directly from LaMetric TIME.
In January 2019, the company officially unveiled its second product LaMetric SKY at CES 2019[8] and the same year in July conducted a pre-order campaign.
Technology
LaMetric products are well known for their unique look due to the screen technologies invented by the company.
LaMetric TIME smart clock has a screen that looks like it's a part of the casing when the device is switched off. When in use, it clearly projects the screen across a large physical space with bright, sharp, square pixels. All pixels are projected by powerful LEDs through a special filter that keeps them isolated and easy on the eye.
LaMetric SKY smart lighting screens consist of pixels of right triangle shape which allows building a continuous matrix of triangle and square pixels at the same time for displaying triangle visual effects and pixel-based information.
Products
LaMetric TIME is the company’s first product, which was unveiled on Kickstarter in June 2014. It’s an internet-connected clock that tracks time, weather, emails, calendar events, tweets, followers, news, deadlines and any other metric needed for your home and business. It works as an always-on display by showing notifications from smartphones, smart home devices and allowing anyone to control them with the click of a button. LaMetric TIME eliminates the need to check multiple apps or news sites for the information you need. Instead, you receive key information at a glance, all in one place.
The product has its own app available in the App Store (iOS) and Google Play. The app has 5 preinstalled apps inside: alarm clock, weather, internet radio, timer and stopwatch, and LaMetric Market with lots of apps from independent developers.
TIME is a standalone Wi-Fi device, iPhone or Android smartphone is needed for setting it up and configuration only. The interface is easy to use: left and right buttons for navigation between the apps, middle button for taking related actions. The form factor is sized to fit well on a table, shelf, shop-front or a counter.
LaMetric SKY is the company’s second product, which was first announced in January 2019 at CES 2019. It is a mosaic light surfaces to brighten up a mood with different light effects and motivate with important information.
The brand-new technology allows assembling mosaic light surfaces in an unbelievable way, namely: side to side, corner to corner, half side to half side and corner to side, removing the boundaries for creativity. Such product versatility unlocks the possibility to assemble animals, Tangram figures, scenes, informative screens and other shapes, which make the interior stand out.
Also, SKY is the lighting product that can work as a smart display of a custom shape, which allows displaying time, weather, custom messages, social metrics, sales figures and other important figures and information on a screen of different sizes.
As his predecessor, SKY has its own mobile app with preinstalled seasons of the year lighting effects and 2 apps: clock and custom messages. SKY is also compatible with LaMetric Market with lots of natural phenomena lighting effects like sunrise, clouds, rainbow, lightning, rain, ripples and informative apps from independent developers.

In April 2016 LaMetric TIME received the Red Dot Product Design Award for high design quality, expressing innovation in form and function in an exemplary manner.[9]
Public Usage
LaMetric TIME obtained extraordinary popularity among the YouTubers, Instagrammer, Game Streamers and other influencers. Nowadays, it can be spotted as a part of the desk setup of the majority of world-famous influencers like Unbox Therapy, MKBHD,.
