LANDEURO is an annual European conference focused on land defense and security, fostering discussions among military, government, and industry leaders. It is convened by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA). Directly supporting U.S. Army objectives for European landpower, LANDEURO mirrors LANPAC's Indo-Pacific partnership-building and Global Force's defense industry innovation to strengthen relationships and interoperability with Allies and Partners..[1]
LANDEURO content is composed of keynotes, press conferences[2], panel discussions led by thought leaders like John Nagl, tactically-focus "Warrior Corners"[3] facilitated by military leaders like Pasi Välimäki, a Leadership Forum[4], Industry Round Tables[5], and a professional development forum called Generation Next[6]
The inaugural LANDEURO convened from 16-17 July 2025 at the RheinMain Congress Center in Wiesbaden, Germany, with over 2,300 attendees from 80 countries including NATO and US Allies from Asia and Africa. Keynote addresses included: NATO Deputy Secretary General, Radmila Šekerinska; Chargé d'Affaires to Germany, Allen Meltzer; Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Gen. Alexus Grynkewich; U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) Commander and Allied Land Command Commander, GEN Christopher Donahue; and Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.
Key topics included Increased NATO defense spending[7][8], announcement of the Eastern Flank Defense Line (EFDL)[9][10], and lessons learned from Ukraine.[11] The confluence of continued fighting in Ukraine with assertions that NATO forces could reduce Kaliningrad Anti-Access/Area Denial while countering Russian Mass & Momentum[12] led to Russian media stoking controversy.[13] Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov continued this assertion with remarks: "The statement by NATO leaders they are about to preemptively crush the Kaliningrad region... sends a very alarming signal to any normal person about what plans are brewing."[14] Throughout the Western media, however, this was largely debunked[15] as a continuation of NATO's victimization of Russia.[16]
Supporting topics, with much less controversy, included discussion on improving Foreign Military Sales[17], expanding Allied Co-Production, and improving Allied magazine depth.[18] Linking together production with deterrence, GEN (Ret.) Edward Daly summed up most feelings with, "NATO must transform itself into a productive powerhouse if it does not want to become the most expensive military museum in the world. Even production is a deterrence.”[19]
The exhibition at LANDEURO 25 featured a diverse range of companies, including American Rheinmetall,[20] Bombardier Defense[21], Edge Autonomy[22], General Dynamics, Govini[23], and Lockheed Martin, alongside others, to showcase technologies and solutions relevant to militaries of Western Nations.[24] Brave1 also announced their Test in Ukraine Platform[25] at LANDEURO 25 asserting that [friendly] "foreign companies or governments will be able to create accurate solutions for real war challenges, instantly receive feedback from the military and improve products based on combat experience."[26]
While the Association of the United States Army is the primary organizer of LANDEURO, U.S. Army Europe and Africa is an active participant in its area of responsibility. USAREUR-AF's involvement offers a unique opportunity to link lessons learned and innovation from the Russo-Ukrainian War to develop future land forces around the world.
