Kyle Marvin is an American writer, director, actor and producer. He is known for producing feature and short films that have been featured in various film festivals, such as Cannes, SXSW, Tribeca, and Sundance. He is best known for the feature film The Climb (2019), which he co-wrote, produced, and starred in.[1][2]

Other notable credits include 80 for Brady (2023),[3] Babysitter (2015), and Hunter Gatherer (2016).

Career

Marvin was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He started his career as an executive producer for several short films, including Babysitter (2015), Keep in Touch (2015), Strings (2015), Your Hands (2015), Hunter Gatherer (2016), and Kicks (2016).[4]

His breakthrough came in 2017, with the adaptation of the hit Sundance short film The Climb, which he developed in partnership with Michael Covino. Marvin served as the writer, and producer, and portrayed Kyle in The Climb. The film depicts a tumultuous but enduring friendship between two men across many years of laughter, heartbreak, and rage. The Climb premiered at the Cannes Film Festival as part of “Un Certain Regard” where it went on to receive the Coup de Coeur Award, an Independent Spirit Awards nomination for Best First Feature, and was included among the National Board of Review: Top Ten Films Independent Films.[1]

After the success of The Climb, Marvin and Covino signed a first-look deal with Topic Studios to develop, produce, and direct feature films under their Watch This Ready banner.[5]

Marvin performed as WeWork co-founder, Miguel McKelvey, in the Apple TV+ limited series WeCrashed which premiered on March 18, 2022.[1]

In 2023, Marvin released his feature directorial debut, "80 for Brady," a sports comedy reenacting the historic 2017 Super Bowl comeback led by Tom Brady. The film features authentic portrayals, with Brady and former Patriots donning their old jerseys. The film premiered on January 5, 2023, at the 34th Palm Springs International Film Festival.
