Kyle Darnell (born on April 28) is an American author and artist out of Evansville Indiana. Kyle Darnell is best known as a printmaker, ceramicist, author, and illustrator of Evansville Monsters. Kyle's written and printmaking work focuses on telling regional folk stories. His ceramic work focuses on bright colors and incorporating printmaking techniques into ceramics.[1] [2][3]

Early life

Kyle was born in San Diego California April 28. He spent most of his childhood in California.

Career

Kyle received a B.F.A. with a minor in creative writing from Culver-Stockton University in Canton Missouri. After his receiving his B.F.A. Kyle moved to Johnson City Tennessee and received an M.F.A. in printmaking and ceramics from East Tennessee State University. Kyle currently resides in Evansville Indiana where he is chair for the art department at Signature School[4] and teaches Printmaking at University of Evansville [5]. Kyle has been an active member of the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana participating in all of their regional shows. In 2019, he was awarded art teacher of the year through the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana. In the same year he also wrote and illustrated the book "Evansville Monsters". [6]

Writing

In 2013 Kyle Darnell wrote and published his Theses and Dissertation titled "Godself"[7]

In 2016 Kyle published his first work of fiction titled "Versus the Multiverse". This book focused on an expanding multiverse.[8]

In 2018 Kyle Darnell received the "Indiana Advancement Grant Award"[9] through the Indiana Arts Commission to write and illustrate "Evansville Monsters". The book focuses on folklore of the Evansville area including stories about the gray lady at Willard Library and the Treewitch of Wesselman Woods. Kyle also created linocut prints for each story in the book. The book was published in 2019 and is a best seller at locally at Bluestocking Social. [10]
