Kydyrgali Ongarbaev ( born 24 October 1994) is a Kazakhstani professional armwrestler, multiple world champion in arm wrestling among professionals, three times champion of Asia, multiple champion of Kazakhstan, gold medalist of the “Zloty Tur” in the category up to 95 kg, silver medalist in the absolute category.[1] Master of sports of international class of the Republic of Kazakhstan in arm wrestling, participant of the prestigious "TOP 8" tournament.[2]

Biohraphy

Kydyrgali Ongarbaev was born on October 24, 1994 in the city of Shardara (Turkistan Region) which is located in the south of Kazakhstan. He began to practice arm wrestling at the age of 10 at the local club “Shardara Armsport”. Under the leadership of the head coach and founder of the "Shardara Armsport" club – Arman Karsybaev, he achieved success in sports early and in 2012 won gold at the World Junior Championships.

Arm wrestling career

At the 2012 World Championships, he won gold in the junior age category and received bronze among adults in the weight category up to 80 kilograms.[3]

In 2013, he became the third in the category up to 95 kg at the Nemiroff World Cup under the Professional Armwrestling League USA.

At the A1 Russian Open 2014 tournament, he won bronze by winning such eminent athletes as Evgeny Prudnik and Spartak Zoloev in the fight on the left, as well as Artem Tainov and Vladimir Mnatsakanyan on the right hand. During his sports career, he managed to achieve the title of international master of sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and become a multiple champion of his country. He became the champion of Asia three times.

In 2017, performing at the World Cup among professionals - "Zloty Tur" in the weight category up to 95 kg, Ongarbaev took the first place on the right hand. In the absolute weight category, he became second, losing only to the strongest armwrestler on the planet - Levan Saginashvili.[4]

In 2018, thanks to his successful performance at the Zloty Tur, he received an invitation to the "TOP-8" tournament, which brought together the 8 strongest armwrestlers on the planet, regardless of the weight category. At this tournament, the Kazakh athlete entered the top four in the world, defeating an athlete from Poland - Alex Kurdecha, who weighed 50 kg more than Ongarbaev himself.[5]
