Kurem is a small village of 263 hectares in Rasra Tehsil in Ballia district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kurem depends on Rasra (MB), the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One Well supply and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Kurem's pin code is 221712[4], and village code is 09148600. The area of Kurem is segregated as 238 hectares irrigated area, 25 hectares unirrigated area.

Kurem has One post office (Kurem B.O) and Five public telephones. Kurem has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Rasra (MB) and Ballia to sell jaggery and make their living.
