Kuniaki Iwanami (Born October 17, 1987) is a Japanese physician, video game developer, and AI researcher. He is CEO and the President of Louis Eagle Co. and the developer of "The Ghost Mental Arithmetic".

Biography

Born in 1987 in Yokohama, Japan, Iwanami gained admission to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tokyo in 2006. He graduated from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Medicine in 2012 and is a member of MENSA, a society consisting of people with the top 2% of IQs.

Iwanami has several anecdotes about his educational career, including scoring 881 out of 900 in the National Center Test for University Admissions in Japan. He participated twice in the Japan finals of International Mathematical Olympiad when he was in junior high school and high school. He is also noted for his intense focus on mathematics.

While studying at the University of Tokyo Medical School, he founded Louie Eagle Co. and developed riddle games for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, iOS and Android, including riddle developments for "Case Closed|Case Closed (Detective Conan) Seminar: Riddle Solving" and "Layton's Mystery Journey" series. His book series, "The Ghost Mental Arithmetic" was a hit, selling over 650,000 copies in Japan and abroad.

Iwanami is an active communicator in English and has delivered a speech at a global lecture event "TED x teachers". He also received great applause for his presentation in English at the "LES Business Plan Competition", a global business plan contest sponsored by the global organization LES International.

He has made appearances on various TV programs in Japan, such as "Jonetsu Tairiku", "Ohasuta", "Sekaiichi Uketai Jugyou" and so on.

Speaking Engagements

Iwanami has given lectures on Ghost Mental Arithmetic and the Iwanami Method of study at the Ito International Research Center at the University of Tokyo, a facility built with a donation from Masatoshi Ito, the former chairman of Seven & I Holdings. He also delivered lectures to professional teachers, tax accountants, students at his alma mater, Toin Gakuen high school, and so on.
