Krzysztof Jonkisz (born 9 March 1947 in Bielsko-Biała) is a Polish local government official, mechanical and textile engineer, between 1990 and 1994 mayor of Bielsko-Biała.
Biography
Graduate of the Stefan Żeromski High School No. 3 in Bielsko-Biała and the State Technical School. He later completed studies in mechanical engineering at the branch of the Łódź University of Technology in Bielsko-Biała, specialising in textile machine construction. He worked at the Factory of Textile Machines Befama and the Befamatex Research and Development Centre, rising from assembler to deputy chief constructor. From the 1980s, he was active in the Bielsko-Biała Klub Inteligencji Katolickiej|Catholic Intelligentsia Club, serving as its treasurer; he was also a member of the Bishop's Committee to Aid the Imprisoned and Interned in Bielsko-Biała.
He became a member of the Solidarity Citizens' Committee, later associated with the local Self-Government Coalition grouping. In 1990, 1994 and 1998, he was elected to the municipal council of Bielsko-Biała. From 11 June 1990 to 7 July 1994, he served as mayor of Bielsko-Biała, then until 1995 sat on the city council.
Personal life
Married, he has four children.
