Kristin Engvig (born 28 December 1966 in Kristiansund, Norway) is a Norwegian social entrepreneur and leadership expert. She is best known as the founder and CEO of the Women’s International Networking Conference (WIN), a global leadership initiative for women.[1][2]
Early life and education
Kristin Engvig was born and raised in Kristiansund in a family with multiple generations of photographers.[3] She studied business economics at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, and later earned an MBA from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan.[4]
Career
After graduation, Engvig worked in corporate finance and consulting at organizations including JPMorgan, Citibank, and Innovation Norway.[5] In 1997, inspired by a realization that many professional women lacked global support networks, she founded Women’s International Networking (WIN) in Milan—initially as a small meeting organized from her kitchen table.[6][7]
Engvig’s initiative grew to host annual leadership conferences and programs across Europe, Asia (including India and Japan), and Africa (Nigeria) reaching tens of thousands of participants from over 100 countries.[8][9][10]
A 2017 article in *Dagens Næringsliv* noted that after leaving her earlier career path at age 30, Engvig went on to reach over 14,000 female executives through her conferences by that year.[11]
Recognition and impact
Engvig has received multiple awards for her leadership in diversity and women’s empowerment, such as:
- EuroKnowledge Outstanding Women Leadership Award
- CEO for Life Award (2021)
- International Alliance of Women Award (2010)
She was also named one of the "Top 10 Influential Women in Global Diversity" by *DiversityGlobal Magazine*.[12][13]
Philosophy and global engagements
Engvig’s leadership philosophy emphasizes the integration of feminine values—such as empathy, creativity, emotional intelligence, sustainability, and beauty—into leadership and organizational cultures.[14]
Since 2022, she has co-led the "Women Pioneering Global Change" initiative in partnership with the Global Citizen Forum and hosted at the United Nations in Geneva, aimed at promoting inclusive leadership and peacebuilding.[15]
Personal life
Engvig resides in Switzerland after many years in Italy. She is a mother, and her interests include coaching, acting, Kundalini yoga, and creativity, elements that inform her leadership approach.[16]
