Kristian Leth (born March 27, 1980)[1] is a Danish musician, writer[2][3], and radio producer.[4][5][6]

His band The William Blakes has released 9 albums.[7] The group won The Royal Crown Prince Couple's Award 2011..[8][9] They won two Danish Music Awards in 2011 for Danish Rock Group and Danish Rock Album of The Year. He has also released five solo albums, four under his own name[10] and one as Baron Criminel.[11]

He composed the soundtrack for TV series Netflix 'Equinox'[12][13], 'Ride Upon The Storm'[14], 'Rita' and the movie 'Erotic Man'[15] with his partner Fridolin Nordsø. He also scored the film 'As In Heaven'.[16] Together with Fridolin Nordsø he was nominated for the Danish Film Academy's 'Robert' for 'Best Original Song' for the title song for the movie 'Kidnappet'. They also wrote and produced the title song for Netflix series 'Rita' with Oh Land.[17] The song got massive radio airplay and was certified gold in Denmark for digital sales exceeding of 10,000 copies in 2012.[18]

He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts's Forfatterskolen in 2002..[19] His debut book was the poetry collection 'Land' in the same year.[20] He has written four books of poetry, a novel, two memoirs and four non-fiction books[21], one of them together with evolutionary geneticist Eske Willerslev.[22] His memoir 'En vej ud af tågen' ('A Way Out of the Fog') was lauded as a display of "grand recollectional art" by Weekendavisen[23] and "a highly needed book for men" in Politiken.[24] He also writes articles and essays for Danish magazines such as 'Ræson'.[25]

Kristian Leth has produced documentaries for Danish Broadcast Corporation[26], KCRW[27] and Radio24syv – as well as hosted TV specials and series.[28] He is currently the host of 'Bibelen Leth fortalt' on Danish National Radio Program 1[29] causing Politiken to write in their review that Leth 'is eminently good at explaining why Jesus was so dangerous'.[30] His radio series 'Wagners Ringen ifølge Kristian Leth' about Richard Wagner's 'Der Ring des Nibelungen' won the Prix Italia 2014[31] and the Danish Language Prize.[32] It was nominated for a 2014 Prix Europa. His series on Glenn Gould won the Prix Radio in 2017[33]

Kristian Leth lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife film director Tea Lindeburg and three children.[34][35]
