Kristi Ling is an American author, inspirational speaker, and expert on happiness and emotional well-being. She is the author of Operation Happiness, and co-author and contributor to several other books. Success (magazine) noted that Ling wants to "smash the idea that happiness is a lucky accident that befalls some people and not others."[1]

Kristi Ling's TED (conference), The Power of Re-Thinking Happiness[2], inspired a movement to view happiness as a skill and as an activity, rather than just a feeling. She is a frequent television guest on the topics of happiness, positive thinking, and self care. In 2020 she co-authored the book Betty Boop's Guide to a Bold and Balanced Life with Susan Wilking Horan and a foreword by Zac Posen.

In an interview with Awareness Magazine[3], Ling shared her story and that after her own battles with anxiety and struggles to be happy, she became frustrated with the lack of practical and science-based advice on happiness that was also relatable and easy to understand. She began writing and speaking about her experiences, including effective techniques she discovered for supporting happiness and life balance. Her work has been covered in publications such as Woman's Day[4], Oxygen (TV network),[5] and she has been a contributor to The Huffington Post[6].

Early Life and Career

Ling was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the city's suburb of Thousand Oaks, California and attended Thousand Oaks High School and Moorpark College. She was a volunteer for a number of community organizations and nonprofits and still remains active in several causes. In 1991, she began working in the entertainment business, first in radio and then as a spokesmodel and actor before spending many years as a publicist for a number of television and film productions[7]. She began blogging about her life and happiness in 2009, and since has become a writer and expert in the areas of positive psychology, positive thinking, emotional health, and success.
