Krishnan Vasant, I.S.C. is a Indian cinematographer.
Early life
Krishnan Vasant was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, before relocating to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where he was raised.[1]
His formal training in the visual arts commenced in Chennai, where he pursued film school education to specialize in cinematography. Vasant's debut as a cinematographer occurred in 2014.[1]
Career
He developed an interest in photography at a young age and later studied visual communication at Loyola College, followed by film studies at the LV Prasad College of Media Studies. Balu Mahendra guided and influenced his approach to visual storytelling, particularly through street and documentary photography.[1]
He works mainly in Tamil films and got his debut film Kalyana Samayal Saadham in 2013. Since then, he has worked on several films, including Buddy, Oh Manapenne and The Girlfriend.[1]
Vasant was originally associated with an earlier, unrealised project with director Rahul Ravindran. The collaboration later materialised with The Girlfriend. He has described his approach as being guided by an understanding of production constraints in storytelling over scale.[2]
