Krassimir Katev is a Bulgarian financier, businessman, and former First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Bulgaria from 2001 to 2004 in the government of Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.[1][2] Krassimir is married and has two children.
Education and business career
Krassimir Katev was born on October 11, 1968, in Varna. In 1987, he graduated with honors and a gold medal for academic achievements from the First English Language High School in Varna. In 1993, he obtained a bachelor's degree with honors from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Budapest, Hungary. In 1994, he graduated with honours from the State University of New York, USA, majoring in accounting and finance. In 1998, he obtained a master's degree in finance from the London School of Business and Finance in London, Great Britain. Mr. Katev also attended postgraduate specializations at Harvard Business School in 2008 and 2021.
In 1994, he started his career as a dealer at "Paribas Capital Markets" in New York. From 1995 to 1997, he worked as Head of Trading in Eastern European Debt Markets at Paribas Capital Markets in London, then moved to Daiwa Europe Limited, London, UK, where Mr. Katev headed the Emerging Markets Debt Trading Department until the end of 1999. From March 2000 to August 2001, he was a vice president at AIG International Trading Ltd, London, UK. Krassimir speaks English, Russian, Hungarian, Bulgarian and German.
Political Career
From August 2001 to January 2004, Mr. Krassimir Katev was the First Deputy Minister of Finance in the government of Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, responsible for the state treasury, as well as the alternate governor for Bulgaria at the International Monetary Fund (2002-2004), and at the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank in Thessaloniki, Greece. [3][4][5] Mr. Katev was also a member of the Executive and Administrative Council of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) in Paris, France (2002 – 2006).[6][7] He also served as a deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Biochim Bank in 2001-2002 and as a member of the management board of the Cibank, Republic of Bulgaria, in 2006-2007.
Awarded as Honorary Chairman of the Bulgarian Dealers Association in Sofia 2003.
