Eniola Olanrewaju[1] (born 2 April 1998), professionally known as Korty eo, is a Nigerian indie filmmaker. Korty showcases her films on Youtube, via the account Korty eo. Korty gained prominence on Youtube for documenting African stories,especially the entertainment scene.
Early life
Korty was born and grew up in Bodija, in Ibadan Nigeria[2]. She is the second born in a family of 3. Korty has credited her artistry to her parents who always indulged in artistic expressions. In Secondary school, Korty started to experiment with graphic design and made event flyers[2]. Korty, left for Lagos to pursue a Bachelor's in Computer Science in Bowen University and later transferred to the University of Ibadan[3]
Career
In 2017, Korty, in the streets of Lagos, was scouted by a modeling agent, for Few Models, and walked for shows in Lagos Fashion Week, Design Week and GTB Fashion Weekend [3]. Korty, a self-taught video producer and editor, got a job at Zikoko Magazine, where she worked for over a year as a writer and content producer. She then became the head of content at Empawa Africa, a talent incubation enterprise owned by Mr Eazi. In December 2020, Korty quit her job to pursue freelance filmmaking and focus on her Youtube channel[4]. In her first year of Youtube, Korty gained over 200,000 subscribers and 7 million views[5]. Her Youtube show Flow with Korty documents the individual experiences of its guests and their journey to achieving success in their respective fields. The show has featured prominent people in Africa including Rema, Ayra Starr, Simi, ms.Banks, Black Sherif, Bella Shmurda, Victony, Victor Osimhen and Don Jazzy among others. Love or Lies on the other hand, explores themes of love, lust, dating preferences and intimacy of the guests invited. In 2023, Korty made her directorial debut on Victoria's Secret: The Tour '23[6]. She was also a member of #YouTubeBlackVoices Class of 2023[7]
