King Lai (born July 18, 1998) is an Asian-American rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur. With his hit single "Scared to Love," King Lai rose to prominence and received several awards and nominations, including "2022 Artist of the Year" by ChinTV International and "2022 Music Video of the Year" by Chintube Awards.[1]

He has become one of the top up and coming artist in the music industry, with a unique and authentic style that sets him apart from other artists.[2] He is the founder of Hlah Thun LLC, a real estate investment company.[3]

Early life and education

King Lai was born Lai Ram Ceu, in Hniarlawn, a small village in Chin State, Myanmar, on July 18, 1998. In pursuit of a better life, his family immigrated to the United States in 2008. King Lai attended United Township in East Moline, IL, and Black Hawk College but dropped out after a few years to start his own business. After dropping out of college, he founded "Hlah Thun LLC," a real estate investment company that owns many apartments in both Illinois and Iowa.[4]

Career

King Lai first dabbled in the music industry in fall of 2020 and a year later in December of 2021 he received his first nomination as "New Artist of the Year" by ChinTube Award.[5]

King Lai's rise to fame truly began with his hit single "Scared to Love," which has received millions of views across his social platforms, which earned him nominations for "Artist of the Year" by Chin TV International and "Music Video of the Year" by Chintube Awards.[6][7] He is the first rapper from Chin State to receive such recognition and has become a trailblazer for the Chin community.[8]

King Lai's music is authentic and genuine to his life experiences, with a unique blend of smooth melodies and bilingual flows.[9] He wants to inspire others who may have faced similar challenges and hopes to show that anyone can overcome adversity and achieve success.[10]
