Kincső Kenéz (Budapest, September 2, 2008) is a Hungarian water polo player, bronze medalist at U15 and U18 European Championship, Hungarian champion and cup winner. She is currently a player of the Eger SE women's water polo team[1]. She is the granddaughter of Olympic champion water polo player György Kenéz,[2] her father, György Kenéz Jr., a former water polo player, coach and referee, and her mother is Anita Gogola, a former swimmer.

Early years

Kincső Kenéz started swimming and played handball in her childhood,[3] and finally, following the family traditions, she started playing water polo. At the age of nine, she already played in the Baby championship of the Transdanubian Water Polo League (DVL), playing in four matches for the Kópé Water Polo Ltd. team. After that, she played in the Budapest championships for KÓPÉ ÚVSE, FTC-Telekom, KSI-Százhalombatta, and then in the national championships for the following clubs: KSI SE, KESI, III.ker. TVE[4]. Kenéz made her debut for the latter club in the women's OB1 at the age of 13 and scored 8 goals in 18 matches. From 2022, she transferred to the Szeged Women's Water Polo Club, where she scored 25 goals in 19 matches. In June 2023, as captain of the U15 Hungarian girls' national team, she participated in the European Championship in Croatia. She was the leader of her team, scored 5 goals in the group match against Italy[5] and 7 goals in the quarter-final match against Germany[6] and eventually finishing third in the overall standings. [7] In November of the same year, in the final of the Hungarian Women's Water Polo Cup (officially known as the BENU Women's Hungarian Cup), she became cup winner with her team (UVSE) after defeating Ferencváros.[8][9] She was a member of the champion's team of UVSE, which won the 2023–24 Hungarian Women's Water Polo Championship.[10]

Career

In the summer of 2024, she changed her club to KSI, where her team got off to a great start in the league thanks to her excellent performance. She was elected the best player of the month in October and Kenéz herself was at the top of the scoring list in 3 different age groups at the same time.[11] In July 2024, she won the silver medal with the Hungarian national team at the U16 World Championship in Turkey. She claimed the title as the best player in three games and was selected in the All-Star team of the tournament as the only Hungarian.[12][13] In September 2025, she won a bronze medal with the Hungarian girls' national team at the U18 European Championship in Malta.[14][15] After that, she received an invitation to the women's national team for the first time in her career.[16] She started the 2025 season in her new club, the Eger One SE.[17]
