Lim Wee Kiat or Kiat Lim (Chinese: 林伟杰; born 5 July 1993) is a Singaporean businessman known for his role at Thomson Medical Group,[1] his involvement in various business ventures across multiple sectors, and as a board member at Valencia CF.[2][3]
He is the son of Singaporean business magnate Peter Lim.[4]
Early life and education
Kiat Lim was born in Singapore in 1993 as the only son of Singaporean business magnate, Peter Lim. He grew up and got his early education in Singapore before moving to Australia to pursue his undergraduate studies.
Lim graduated from the University of New South Wales in Australia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.[1]
Business career
Lim started his professional business career in 2017 at Kestrel Capital Pte Ltd. as Vice President (Investments).[5] At the helm, he oversaw investments, and managed venture capital funds and corporate finance transactions.[6]
In March 2019, Lim was appointed non-executive, non-independent director of Thomson Medical effective immediately.[5] In December 2021, he was redesignated to executive director and CEO of Thomson X, a technological subsidiary of the Group, effective 1 January 2022.[7]
In August 2022, Lim was appointed Executive Vice-Chairman of the Group, assuming responsibility for the Group's growth strategies.[8]
In July 2023, Lim led Thomson Medical's acquisition of FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.[9] The acquisition, valued at SGD 517 million (USD 381 million),[10] was the largest ever healthcare transaction in Vietnam at the time[11] and, at announcement, the biggest healthcare acquisition in Southeast Asia since 2020.[12][6]
In October 2023, Lim was appointed Chairman of RSP Architect Planners & Engineers, where he led a brand refresh of one of the oldest architectural firms in Singapore, first established in 1956.[13] Under his leadership, RSP launched new initiatives like RSP.SM Energy Group, RSP Lifestyle Group, RSP Academy, and RSP META, to address sustainability and innovation needs.[14][15]
Entrepreneurial ventures and investments
In 2021, Lim co-founded zujuGP alongside his father Peter Lim, in partnership with football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo.[16][17] zujuGP is a community platform aimed at enhancing fans' and businesses' connection with football using technology.[16]
In 2022, Lim ventured into the web3 market with his partnership with Elroy Cheo, a Singaporean entrepreneur, to launch ARC, a private digital community that would use non-fungible tokens to authenticate membership.[18] The venture, which is Asia's first app-based community with an NFT membership was later joined by JJ Lin as a co-founder.[19]
Lim acquired a majority stake in GRVTY Media in 2022, extending his entrepreneurial footprint to the media.[20]
Philanthropic and community engagement
Lim is involved with and supports charity organizations like the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship, the NParks-Peter Lim Scholarship.[21]
