Dr. Haye had received his early schooling in Ludhiana and at the local Government College, whence he passed the Intermediate Examination, he developed a flair for writing Articles. His very FIRST ARTICLE which appeared in the FIRST Issue of the College Magazine, was the fore-runner of what was to come in later years. Dr. Khawaja Abdul Haye was awarded 'Doctorate' in History[3] from University of the Punjab, Punjab, Pakistan in 1945 on his voluminous Thesis on 'Dost Mohammad Khan, which, in fact, was an attempt at unfolding the myth of 'Anti-Russian sentiment. His examiner, Sir, Jadunath Barkar of the University of Calcutta had then opined It is a compact piece of work, which evidences properly directed industry, and power of accurate recording and proper marshalling of facts. The co-examiner, Dr. C.C. Davis of the Oxford University had held that the thesis is written in good English, annotated on more scientific lines and contains a useful critical Bibliography.

Writer

Dr. Haye had been keenly interested in writing for the Press, and as years passed-by, his zeal for serious and thought provoking writings increased so that he became the author of scores of literary and critical text and historical books published in Pakistan and abroad. His noted book, entitled STORIES OF GREAT MUSLIMS[4] published in 1951 by M/S Macmillan Publishers and CO, London, is still in active circulation in Britain, United States of America, Canada, and other Muslim and non-Muslim countries. Its translations have already appeared in Indonesia and Arabic languages. In 1969, the demand of this Book became so sharp in the Muslim countries of Africa that M/S Macmillan Publishers and Co. brought out a special Edition from its Lagos(Nigeria) based Press. For his thought-provoking paper entitled "Why is Baluchistan educationally backward, and what measures should be adopted to accelerate the pace of educational progress", Dr. Haye was the recipient of a rich PRIZE in 1944 from the Baluchistan Government.

Instructor

After having spent 17 years, teaching in Ambala and Quetta, he had the privilege of being selected in 1946, as CHAIRNAN, History Department, in his old alma mater, the prestigious Islamia College University, Peshawar. He took a vigorous part in the 1947 REFERENDUM in N.W.F.P., when he was deputed by the Provincial Muslim League to direct, supervise and guide the League propaganda campaign organized by the students contingent in the Bannu District. His intended and logically worded speeches in public meetings had then received wide publicity in the Muslim media like Dawn (newspaper), Pakistan Times and URDU Dailies. His TALKS and DISCUSSIONS in English And URDU on literary, educational and cultural subjects were regularly broadcasted from the Peshawar Radio Station for as long as he was in service in Islamia College University, Peshawar.

In early 1949, Dr. Haye moved to the prestigious Pakistan Military Academy, Kakol, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as Instructor in Academics[9]. He served that premier Military Institution of Pakistan with distinction for eighteen years as HEAD of the Department of Modern subjects. It was in that rather sensitive appointment that Dr. Haye had acquired a name for a strict disciplinarian and firm administrator. His ex-cadets of those eventful years have held in the past and are today holding senior-most appointments of Corps, Div, and Brigade Commanders in the Pakistan Army.

Dr. Khawaja Abdul Haye was a man of firm convictions and was a devout and devoted educationist. His aim in life has been to so teach and train his young pupils that they become, in course of time, citizens of the modern world useful to themselves and an asset to Pakistan. He was proud of the fact that a sizeable number of his talented ex-pupils from Quetta, Islamia College University, Peshawar and Pakistan Military Academy, Kakol, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, holded coveted assignments of Governors (Bind) Chief Justice (Peshawar High Court), Vice Chancellor (Baluchistan University), Chief Minister (N.W.F.P) Secretaries in the CENTRE as well as PROVINCES.

On retirement from the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakol, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Haye founded in Rawalpindi, in march,1967, a co-educational Institution, Jinnah Preparatory School[10], after the name of the Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This modest ideological Institution has by now produced scores of promising young pupils who have distinguished themselves most creditably in the Cadet and Medical Colleges and Universities of Pakistan. The fact that the management of the School was headed by an eminent jurist and learned scholar, Nasim Hasan Shah of the Supreme Court of Pakistan is ample testimony of the distinct position that this ideological institution has carved for itself in the educational field in Pakistan.
