Kevin Sinclair (born 18 November 1977) is an American Fashion photography and portrait photographer. He has shot for many publications like The Telegraph[1], Women's Wear Daily[2], |The Financial Times[3][4][5][6], Marie Claire[7][8][9], international editions of Vogue[10][11][12], Harper's Bazaar[13][14][15], Elle[16][17][18], amongst others.[19] Sinclair has also shot campaigns for prominent fashion names such as Calvin Klein, Diesel[20][21][22], Brooks Brothers, and Carolina Herrera, in addition to capturing many celebrities like Willem Dafoe[23], Daniel Radcliffe[24], and Michael Shannon[25]. Kevin Sinclair is also the Editor-in-chief of Vestal[26], a magazine that focuses on contemporary fashion, culture, and arts.

Early life

Sinclair was born in Georgetown, Guyana, in 1977. When Sinclair was eight years old, his family moved to Toronto, Canada, where at the age of 12, his mother gave him a camera, and he hasn't put it down since then.[27] He then moved to New York City to study graphic design at the School of Visual Arts. During these years, he started experimenting with different styles and lighting and working with several New York's modeling agencies.[28]

Career

In 2008, Sinclairs' work caught the eye of Joanna Coles, Editor-in-chief of Marie Claire at the time, who hired him to shoot for the magazine regularly.[27] During this time, Sinclair collaborated with Nina_García|Nina García[29] and Zanna_Roberts_Rassi|Zanna Roberts[30] on several projects for Marie Claire. Sinclair quickly became a well-known name in the industry that fashion companies like Saks_Fifth_Avenue|Saks Fifth Avenue, Brooks_Brothers|Brooks Brothers, Nordstrom|Nordstrom, Calvin Klein, Carolina_Herrera|Carolina Herrera, Elie_Tahari|Elie Tahari sought for his imagery.

In 2013, Sinclair started a 5-year collaboration with founder Renzo Rosso, creative director Andreas Melbostad, and Marie-Amélie Sauvé[31] on Diesel's luxury brand, Diesel Black Gold.[32][33][34][35] Sinclair also worked with top model Kasia Struss for Harper's Bazaar[13] and Diesel Black Gold's Fall advertisement.[36]

In 2014, Sinclair worked with Anna Ewers for |The Financial Times magazine.[37] In the following years, he worked with several top models like Helena_Christensen|Helena Christensen[38], Karolína_Kurková|Karolína Kurková[39], and Elettra_Rossellini_Wiedemann|Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann[40] for different publications. Sinclair started regularly shooting celebrities in the same year when he entered a multi-year collaboration with Essential Homme Magazine.[41] Since then, Sinclair has worked with many established and trending artists such as Willem_Dafoe|Willem Dafoe[23], Michael Shannon[25], Gal_Gadot|Gal Gadot, Jodie_Turner-Smith|Jodie Turner-Smith[1], Daniel Radcliffe[24], KJ_Apa|KJ Apa[2], Joe_Alwyn|Joe Alwyn[42], Hugh_Dancy|Hugh Dancy[43], Charlie_Plummer|Charlie Plummer[44], Theophilus_London|Theophilus London[45], Theo_James|Theo James[46], Zachary_Quinto|Zachary Quinto[47], Lauren_Mayberry|Lauren Mayberry[48], Allie_X|Allie X[49], Luke_James_(singer)|Luke James[50], and Virgil Abloh[51].

Vestal

Vestal Magazine[26] was founded in 2012 by Kevin Sinclair and David Gargiulo. Kevin Sinclair is the acting Editor-in-chief of the fashion, culture, and arts magazine. In a collaboration/interview with American Express, Sinclair explained that he created Vestal to discover and give a platform to young talents across the globe.[52]
