Keun Woo Lee (born January 13, 1998), also known as J. Lee or Ghost, is a Korean Americans singer, rapper, songwriter, record producer from Seoul, South Korea. Lee is best known for his single, "Down," featuring Billboard Hot 100 artist Ted Park[1] and platinum level producer DJ Pain 1. Celeb Mix describes Lee as "the chameleon of sound"[2] and attributes J. Lee for being able to "work around any given genre."[3] EnVi magazine also writes about J. Lee's versatility, stating "his love for lyricism and flow propelled him to create his own style, away from the limitations of being labelled under one type of musical genre."[4] Despite his flexibility between musical genres, media commonly recognizes J. Lee as a Korean-American rapper and R&B artist.[5]

Early Life

Keun Woo Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea but moved to California at an early age. Lee grew up playing the piano and singing, and eventually picked up the guitar and drums. Along the way, he found a strong appreciation for R&B, rap, and hip hop music. His influences inspired him to begin producing, mixing, and mastering his own records. To deepen his skillsets, he moved to Washington, D.C.|Washington, DC from 2016 to 2020 to attend American University, where he studied audio production and Media (communication).

Music Career

2019: "Dream" Release

Lee started the 2019 year with his self-produced, recorded, and mixed single, "Dream." He flew to Miami, Florida to shoot the music video for the song, which was featured on WorldStarHipHop|WorldStarHip Hop[6].

2020: "Down" release and others

Months afterward, Lee kicked off 2020 with the single, "Down." Produced by platinum level producer DJ Pain 1 and featuring Billboard Hot 100|Billboard artist Ted Park[1], "Down" was a collaborative hit made in New York (state)|New York, including Wazzup Media Group's CEO and Konvict Muzik|Konvict Muzik's A&R Director Dwayne D Teck Grant in the process.

Lee followed up with numerous singles succeeding "Down," including songs he wrote, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered, such as "Red Flags," "Strawberry Moon," and "Make Her Mine."

2021–present: "Mask On My Heart," other releases, and solo career

Lee kicked off 2021 year with his rap track, "Mask On My Heart," which received attention from a number of media blogs. Following this release, Miami Music Buzz wrote that "the young versatile emerging R&B and Hip-Hop artist proves his sharp skills and fine intuitions on his latest release, 'Mask On My Heart."[7] Divvy Mag posted that Lee "can be seen alternating moods and rhythms on 'Mask On My Heart,' while his impressive flow is set to spark mass appeal among fans looking for the next urban phenomenon."[8] Hip Hop Indie Music contributed that "Mask On My Heart" is "one of his best performances to date, both lyrically and sonically."[9]
