Kent Ng Kun Kwan Simplified Chinese: 黄军权, Traditional Chinese: 黃軍權, pinyin: Huáng Jūnquán, born June 16, 1985, is a Malaysian entrepreneur, educator, and cross-cultural advocate. He specializes in Mandarin language training and cross-cultural advocacy. He is the founder and CEO of Kunkwan International Mandarin Training Centre and The KOL Academy Sdn Bhd.

Early Life and Education

Kent Ng was born in the Malaysian state of Perak. In 2023, he earned an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from Genesis Academy in collaboration with Lincoln University.[1] and IEMD Graduate Business School Barcelona. Additionally, he obtained the Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(CTCSOL) from Crestar HSK Education & Assessment, Singapore.

Early Career

Kent Ng's career spans various industries, including tourism, sales, and industrial safety, before establishing himself in education and training:

  • (2006–2007) Salesman at Diamond Water Filter Malaysia
  • (2007–2008) Travel Consultant at Asia Baru Tour & Travel Sdn Bhd
  • (2008–2013) General Manager at Fire Prevention Centre.

In 2013, he founded Kunkwan Sdn Bhd, an institution specializing in Mandarin language training. His work expanded in 2021 with the establishment of The KOL Academy Sdn Bhd, focusing on training key opinion leaders (KOLs) and entrepreneurs.

Spokesperson

In 2025, he was selected by BERNAMA - Malaysian National News Agency to be the spokesperson for the Nation Show, where he shared insights on 'Learning Mandarin is the Key to Career Growth in the Economic Business World & Fostering National Harmony with Mandarin'.[2]

Awards and Achievements

Kent Ng's accomplishments include recognition at both the national and international levels:

  • Top 10 in the Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (2022) for showcasing his creativity and innovation in running Kunkwan Sdn Bhd.[3]
  • National Golden Bull Award (2022) by SME Corporation Malaysia as one of the Emerging SMEs with his institution achieving a revenue of USD 1,200,000 a year.[4]
  • The Outstanding Entrepreneur Award (2021) in NanYang Business Award was awarded to him for his significant cultural impact on society. He believes that learning Mandarin strengthens interethnic relationships and has therefore provided scholarships to underprivileged individuals, enabling them to study Mandarin at his institution.[5]
  • The 100 Most Influential Young Entrepreneur Award (2021), recognizing his business models and outstanding contributions across various sectors.[6]

Recognitions

His profile was featured in the Successful People in Malaysia (4th Edition) encyclopaedia, published by British Publishing House, in recognition of his efforts to promote national harmony.[7]

The Malaysia Book of Records recognized Kunkwan Sdn Bhd for achieving the largest student participation in a Mandarin learning course within a year. Today, Kunkwan has over 400,000 students.[8]

Universiti Teknologi MARA and Kunkwan International Mandarin Training Center have signed a memorandum of understanding focusing on community development and social innovation to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions. It is hoped that this memorandum will serve as a starting point for more activities, programs, and collaborations that will benefit not only the members of both institutions but also the broader community and society.[9]
